Practice for child / adolescent therapy

& Jungian Analysis

For children (from age 3) and adolescents with various complaints, such as depression, anxiety, aggressive behaviour, problems at school, separation anxiety, hyper-activity or having to deal with parental divorce or loss.

Psychological child/adolescent assessment

The first phase of treatment is a thorough assessment. Parents are asked to describe their concerns and share their perceptions of the child’s problems and development.
Then I meet with the child/adolescent alone and conduct observation in a free play setting (children), or through drawing, semi-structured interview, and/or psychological tests (including intelligence tests). A school visit may be necessary if the child experiences difficulties in the school situation. Teachers can be asked to fill in questionnaires regarding the child. After the assessment, treatment possibilities are discussed with the parents.

Therapy

Therapy with children and adolescents is non-directive and supportive. The emphasis lies not on modifying their behaviour or teaching them skills but to help them express and resolve inner conflicts. I believe indeed that children first need to be understood, and feel
