Practice for child / adolescent therapy

& Jungian Analysis

When a child is being seen in therapy, I regularly meet with the parents to discuss their concerns about him/her.
Indeed, particularly in younger children, the influence of parents in a child's life is so important that parental support is an essential part of the therapy.

My approach is non-directive and supportive. Together we explore the parent's lives, their anxieties and concerns. By the use of open-ended questions, I help them gain more insight into their way in dealing with their children. I can then offer support in finding their unique way of being a parent.
I usually work in a very pragmatic way, and encourage parents to bring concrete examples of the problems they are experiencing.

Parental support is also offered to parents of children who are not in therapy.
